Recent Obsessions: Algo Malo pizza from Roman Candle

When two staffers — independently of each other — order the Algo Malo pizza from Roman Candle on the same night and rave about it the next day, there’s no denying its place as a 77 Square Recent Obsession. Topped with RP’s light Alfredo sauce, crunchy walnuts, sweet carmelized onions, pungent blue cheese, plus beets and fresh arugula, it’s probably the most unconventional pie we’ve ever tasted, and one of the best. Pizza purists will no doubt scoff at the combination (hey, we did, too, when we first heard about it) but that just leaves more of this zingy ’za for the adventurous.

Vegan Pizza Parties – a Huge Success!

The Roman Candle Pizzeria held pizza parties on May 10^th and 11^th at their Middleton location hosted by the Madison Area Vegetarian Meetup Group.  Over 90 vegans, vegetarians, and a few curious newcomers attended the events.  They vegged out on a variety of pizzas, many topped with Daiya cheese, a vegan substitute similar to dairy-based cheese, as well as soups, salads and drinks.  Feedback from party attendees proved the events to be a huge success.

Good pizza! I especially liked the vegan destroyer — very delicious toppings. The animal lovers pizza was less loaded with toppings, but it, too, was delicious, and it had a nice sauce. I liked the appetizers, especially the bruschetta. The wait staff took good care of us. – Tammy, Charter member
